Asbestos Exposure Sites In Texas - We have over 1,000 clients in Texas who have worked at hundreds of job-sites across Texas. Why is this important? In order to prove a case against a particular company, we must show that company exposed you to asbestos, either through an asbestos-containing product, or by their unsafe work with those products. If you are unable to remember the names of the products or companies you worked with or around, we may have other clients who worked at your same job-site who may remember.

Mesothelioma Law Firm Homepage - Mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the lining of the lung or abdomen. Asbestos has been the only known cause of mesothelioma since 1960. In fact, two refinery foreman in Port Arthur, Texas were diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1958, and an article about their diagnosies was published in 1960.

Potential Mesothelioma/Asbestos Defendents - Hundreds of companies profited at the expense of working men and women by manufacturing asbestos-containing products or equipment that utilized asbestos. In order to recover compensation from one or more of these companies, we must prove (among other things) that you were exposed to asbestos from their products.

What is Mesothelioma? - Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer. The mesothelium is a membrane that covers and protects most of the internal organs of the body and is composed of two layers of cells: One layer immediately surrounds the organ; the other forms a sac around it. The mesothelium produces a lubricating fluid that is released between these layers, allowing moving organs (such as the beating heart and the expanding and contracting lungs) to glide easily. Certain cells in the mesothelium can become abnormal and cancerous.

What is Asbestos? - Asbestos refers to a group of naturally occurring minerals which form long tiny fibers, commonly used in many industrial products, including cement, brake linings, roof shingles, flooring products, textiles, and insulation. If tiny asbestos particles float in the air, especially during the manufacturing process, they may be inhaled or swallowed, and can cause serious health problems.

Your Legal Rights - Persons diagnosed with mesothelioma have several areas of rights regarding their exposure to asbestos and the resulting cancers. Consultation with a qualified, experienced attorney is the best way to establish the specific rights and remedies available to each individual case.

Sources of Mesothelioma - Exposure to or working with asbestos is the major risk factor for mesothelioma, accounting for 80 percent of the reported cases in the United States. Some cases, however, are reported for individuals with no known exposure to asbestos. In addition to mesothelioma, exposure to asbestos increases the risk of lung cancer, asbestosis (a noncancerous, chronic lung ailment), and other cancers, such as those of the larynx and kidney.

Mesothelioma Symptoms - Symptoms of mesothelioma may not appear until 30 to 50 years after exposure to asbestos. Shortness of breath and pain in the chest due to the accumulation of fluid in the pleura are often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include weight loss and abdominal pain and swelling due to a buildup of fluid in the abdomen. Other symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma may include bowel obstruction, blood clotting abnormalities, anemia, and fever. If the cancer has spread beyond the mesothelium to other partsof the body, symptoms may include pain, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face. These symptoms may be caused by mesothelioma or by other, less serious conditions. It is important to see a doctor about any of these symptoms. Only a doctor can make the proper diagnosis.

Mesothelioma Treatments - As with most cancers, early detection and diagnosis is key to the best treatment as Mesothelioma will progress through different stages. Early, the cancer will be found in the lining of the chest cavity itself, the lining of the lungs or in the lining of the abdominal cavity. As the cancer progresses, the malignant cancer cells can metastisize or spread to the lymph nodes, diaphragm, or, eventually to other organs and tissues throughout the body.
